The Embassy participated in the celebration of the National Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, at the Office of Naval Research in Arlington Virginia, on May 29, 2007. The Embassy had a Sri Lanka booth promoting tourism, handicrafts and Sri Lanka food and Ceylon Tea, focused on the sizeable staff at the Office of Naval Research. It was an event that drew much appreciation from the visitors, many of whom had knowledge of Sri Lanka and so were able to appreciate what the country offered. There were also those who had not known of Sri Lanka before, and the promotion was a voyage of discovery for them as they explored the wonders of the country and left with the desire to visit its shores very soon.
