SCOPP TAKES ISSUE WITH ICJ REPORT AND ADDENDUM ON MUTTUR INCIDENT

The killing of the 17 ACF workers in Muttur in August 2006, drew much public attention as did the investigation into the killings and the inquest.

The Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP) in Sri Lanka is extremely concerned about this trend since it will contribute to a further erosion of confidence in the peace process.

The situation has been further compounded by the recent press release of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), based on an addendum to the initial report issued by Mr. Michael Birnbaum, the observer into the inquest appointed by the ICJ.
